Straldzha municipality is located in the eastern section of the Thracian lowlands, the rolling areas of the Tundzha River valley.
The most northerly parts reach to the foothills of the Balkan Mountains while the southernmost point goes to the slopes of the Bacadzhitsite Mountain rise and the northwestern spur of the Straldzha Mountain.
In the north, the municipality borders on Kotel municipality; in the east, the municipalities of Karnobat and Sredets; in the south, Bolyarovo and Elhovo municipalities; and in the west, Tundzha municipality and the town of Sliven.
The municipality is 722 square kilometers, with 81% in agriculture.
Straldzha municipality is a traditional agricultural area with an ancient past.
Straldzha and villages within the municipality have a rich history associated with the liberation struggle against Ottoman rule. Vozhvoda Ince and Kara Nikola move from Soldier Bakadzhik to Stara Planina, the band of two brothers was defeated by Turkish armies in the mountains, from the Hazhi Dani. Zimnica Sliven was hanged by the Turks.
The remains of about 70 destroyed villages are visible throughout the municipality.
The city boasts one of the oldest Orthodox churches in the country St. Michael. It has preserved relics and literature dating from the time of Ottoman rule over Bulgaria. Today, the church continues to celebrate Holy Mass.
The municipality has 22 villages with a total population of 12,781 inhabit, according to the 2011 census.
